The BWF Media Prize’s Story of the Year was inaugurated in 2011 to encourage quality journalism surrounding the sport’s commercial series – the OSIM BWF World Superseries, the players and stars on tour, and the sport’s development.
Bangalore-based journalist Dev Sukumar’s "How the Danes Down Goliaths" article, published by Sports Illustrated (India) in December 2011, won the 2011 BWF Media Prize’s English Story of the Year.
It was an exceptional piece of investigative sports journalism that unraveled the ingredients of the sport’s success and development in Denmark, the European badminton powerhouse.
Beijing-based journalist Zhang Nan’s "The 2011 of Guo Zhendong and Chai Biao: Bridging a generation gap" published by Tencent Sports in December 2011, was the 2011 BWF Media Prize Chinese Story of the Year.
With a feature of the world number 5 Chinese men’s doubles pair, the story followed their 2011 journey, demystified their struggles and reconciliation.
The top two winners have won a free trip to the 2012 Thomas and Uber Cup Finals in Wuhan, China. While their respective publisher/media agency was each given an OSIM uPhoria leg massager, courtesy of OSIM International, the title sponsor of the BWF World Superseries. Four merit winners were also identified and each journalist will take home with them an OSIM uCozy shoulder and neck massager.
OSIM’s partnership with BWF in presenting the prizes of the BWF Media Prize serves to complement its position as a firm believer of inspiring the well-being of various stakeholders of the sport. Players competing on the BWF World Superseries have won a variety of OSIM massage products for being winners.
