BWF World Junior Championships get new trophy

The recently concluded BWF World Junior Championships in Taipei not only saw Malaysia, Korea and Indonesia creating histories, the 2011 edition also saw the birth of a new trophy.

Eye Level CupKorean educational service provider, Daekyo, has sponsored the annual junior tournament with five individual trophies named the "Eye Level Cup". The sponsorship runs through to 2020.

The term Noonnoppi, which is Korean for "eye level," represents Daekyo's learner-oriented educational methods as Daekyo aims to offer a variety of educational services suitable for a globalized, diversified social structure.

Dr Kang Young Joong (pictured left in inserted photo), who is the BWF President as well as the Chairman of Daekyo, has always been a firm supporter of developing badminton amongst the youth. Daekyo's sponsorship of the BWF World Junior Championships individual trophies is thus an extension of empowering youths through education and now in youth sport.

By joining in the BWF's collection of official trophies namely the Sudirman Cup, Thomas and Uber Cups, and Suhandinata Cup, the Eye Level Cup is a massive step forward in raising the profile and prestige of the BWF World Junior Championships.

Seo Myong Won, Executive Director of Corporate Social Responsibility for Daekyo, said: "For the past 30 years Daekyo has established itself as one of the best educational and cultural service enterprise, emerging as a frontrunner in the field of education."

"Daekyo also takes corporate social responsibility (CSR) seriously and we have made CSR an important part of our management philosophy", Mr Seo added. "Children and youths are an integral part of our educational services, thus it is our honour and delight to present the Badminton World Federation with the Eye Level trophies for all five individual events of the BWF World Junior Championships."
